Standing With Good Shepherd Church During COVID-19 | LYNAYC

During the COVID-19 pandemic, hardship reached far beyond hospitals

and health centres.

Families lost income. Jobs and livelihoods were disrupted. For many,

even meeting everyday needs became increasingly difficult.

In Thiruninravur, Tamil Nadu, families within the

Good Shepherd Church community were among those

experiencing the effects of this unprecedented crisis.

During this difficult period,

reached out with a helping hand.

Supporting a Community During the Pandemic

COVID-19 created not only a health emergency, but also a serious

economic and social crisis.

For families already living with limited financial resources,

interruptions to employment and income made everyday necessities

increasingly difficult to afford.

Local community organizations and churches became important sources

of support, helping identify families who were struggling and ensuring

assistance could reach those who needed it.

Good Shepherd Church in Thiruninravur was one such community.

Working Through Trusted Local Leadership

One of the challenges of providing assistance from thousands of miles

away is ensuring that help reaches the people for whom it is intended.

Rather than attempting to identify individual families remotely,

support was provided directly through

Good Shepherd Church.

This allowed local church leadership — people who knew their community

and understood which families were experiencing hardship — to help

direct the assistance where it was most needed.

Effective charity is not only about giving. It is also about

building relationships of trust with people who understand the

needs of their own communities.

₹30,000 in Community Support

In November 2021, financial assistance was sent

directly to support the Good Shepherd Church community.

A total of ₹30,000 INR was delivered to help provide

relief for families affected by the pandemic.

The assistance was intended to ease some of the immediate financial

pressure experienced by families within the parish community.

While no single contribution could undo the enormous disruption

caused by COVID-19, timely assistance could help families navigate

an exceptionally difficult period.

A Message of Gratitude

Following the assistance, a heartfelt message of thanks was received

from the church.
