OUR STORY

Small Acts of Love. Lasting Change.

What began as a small group of friends helping families during times of crisis has grows into a mission of health, education, hope, and shared humanity.

HOW IT STARTED

Our Founding Story

In 2019, four individuals from a small Indian Tamil Christian community in Canada began a simple act of faith — sending support to families in India and Sri Lanka who were struggling with poverty and a lack of basic resources.

What started quietly grew into something significant. When the COVID-19 pandemic arrived and floods devastated Chennai, the group responded with emergency aid — groceries, oxygen concentrators, and financial support for families in desperate need.

“We did not set out to build an organization. We simply could not look away.”

Two more members later joined, and the group committed to consistent monthly support. Over the years, they assisted college students, funded a rural school bus, provided educational materials, and supported urgent medical needs — all as volunteers, with no salaries taken from donations.

From 2020 to November 2025, CAD 22,400 plus ₹81,252 INR was contributed. As requests for support increased, the group recognized the need to formalize what they had been doing — and Love Your Neighbours was established.
