Supporting Ruth & Her Twin Daughters’ Education | LYNAYC
For a parent facing a serious illness, the battle is rarely medical alone.
There are treatments to manage, bills to pay, food to provide,
and children whose futures still depend on you.
For Ruth, that reality became overwhelming when
breast cancer, financial hardship, and the effects of the COVID-19
pandemic placed enormous pressure on her family.
At the centre of her concern were her twin daughters,
Varshita Ananya and Vanishita Ananya,
and one important question:
How could she keep her daughters in school while fighting
for her own health and supporting her family?
A Family Facing Multiple Challenges
Ruth was already facing the physical and financial demands of
breast cancer treatment when another challenge struck the family.
During the COVID-19 lockdown, her husband lost his job.
With the family’s financial stability severely affected, Ruth continued
working while undergoing treatment and helping provide for her family.
Much of what she earned had to go toward immediate necessities:
medical treatment, medicine, food, and everyday living expenses.
That left very little for another essential part of the family’s future:
her children’s education.
Meet Varshita and Vanishita
Ruth’s twin daughters,
Varshita Ananya and Vanishita Ananya,
were studying in Grade 7 at St. Joseph’s Girls Higher
Secondary School.
Their education represented hope for the future — but continuing it
came with a financial responsibility the family was struggling to meet.
Their annual school fees were approximately
₹22,000.
Under ordinary circumstances, school fees can already be challenging
for families with limited incomes.
For a family simultaneously dealing with cancer treatment and the
loss of employment, that expense became extremely difficult to manage.
When Ruth Reached Out for Help
Faced with these circumstances, Ruth reached out to
Love Your Neighbours As Yourself Charity (LYNAYC)
for assistance.
Her concern was not simply about paying another bill.
It was about making sure that circumstances beyond her daughters’
control did not interrupt their education.
A mother’s illness should not have to mean the end of a child’s
opportunity to learn.
A parent’s job loss should not have to determine whether a child
can remain in school.
Keeping Two Girls in School
LYNAYC stepped in to help cover the twins’ school fees,
allowing Varshita and Vanishita to continue their education.
For the girls, it meant being able to continue learning alongside
their classmates.
For Ruth, it meant having one less financial burden to carry while
undergoing treatment and caring for her family.
When a family faces a crisis, a child’s education should not
become another casualty.
Education Provides Stability During Uncertainty
When families experience serious illness or sudden financial hardship,
attention naturally turns toward immediate survival.
Food must be purchased. Medicine must be paid for.
Medical appointments cannot wait.
In those circumstances, education expenses can quickly become something
a struggling family simply cannot afford.
Yet keeping children in school can provide something incredibly
important during a family crisis:
continuity, stability, and hope.
Supporting Varshita and Vanishita’s education meant helping protect
one part of their lives from the uncertainty surrounding their family.
Standing Beside Mothers Like Ruth
Ruth’s experience reflects a challenge faced by many families.
A serious medical diagnosis can change a household’s financial
circumstances almost overnight.
When illness is combined with unemployment or another unexpected
crisis, families can find themselves choosing between expenses that
are all important.
At Love Your Neighbours As Yourself Charity,
we believe children should not lose educational opportunities simply
because their family is experiencing circumstances beyond their control.
By helping with education costs, we can give parents like Ruth
something invaluable:
the reassurance that their children’s learning can continue.
Two Daughters. One Determined Mother. A Future Worth Protecting.
Varshita and Vanishita can continue focusing on their studies.
Ruth can continue focusing on her health and her family without carrying
the school fees alone.
We cannot remove every challenge this family faces.
But we can stand beside them and make sure one of those challenges
does not take away the girls’ opportunity to learn.
Sometimes loving your neighbour means helping protect their
children’s future while they fight today’s battles.
